CD’s or digital optical disc data storage format was co-developed by Philips and Sony and released in 1982 as the successor to vinyl records for playing music. Data on a CD starts at the centre and proceeds out. Although there are two standard sizes, by far the most common is 120mm (4.7in) diameter with a 74- 80 minute audio capacity.
During 2020 sales of vinyl are expected to be worth more than CD’s in the U.S.
